About ME

My name is Elizabeth (aka LizE), but I am called Becky in the everyday hum and drum of my life. I am a physical therapist with a passion for helping people restore their bodies and their quality of life. I am married with 2 daughters, ages 17 and 6. I live in Southern Ga where hospitality still is a usual way of life. I love animals, art, fitness, rollerblading, shooting, and music. Most of all though I love a good book that takes me to another place or inspires me for enjoying life here on Earth.

A BLOG IS BORN : may 2011
This is my first venture in writing a blog. Oh , I have friends that blog so I guess I know a little about blogs but I’ve never been inspired to have one of my own….Well, that is until I googled a book I was interested in and found a site where it was reviewed by a blogger, and I thought “How neat is that! ” I like to read and I certainly don’t mind sharing an honest opinion, so why not?
LizE ‘s CORNER OF THE WORLD: See MY FAMILY page for more info on my hubby and 2 daughters, who fill the majority of my time and devotion. Then there is Roxie:
Roxanne was a godsend. We had just moved into our new home Aug 2010. Now that we had a big yard, the kids were already asking for a dog. I had mentioned to my hubby that I would love to have a border collie like I did when I was a kid myself. Of course my hubby and I both knew that unless a dog literally showed up at the door like we wanted, the odds of us taking the steps to find one were not that great. Our kids probably knew that too.
Well, we were sitting at the kitchen table taking a break from unpacking boxes, when a knock came at the door and my mother went to answer it. She came in saying it was our neighbors looking for the owner of a stray dog they found running on the highway. They had already left, headed for the pound when mom told me the dog was a Border Collie. Fortunately, she took their phone number and we were able to contact them to say we would take the dog. And so Roxanne (“Roxie”) became a very welcome addition to our family.
And Roxanne is fellow guardian of our new home which is a place teeming with history, a true mix of old and new. We have 5 acres with a house my hubby watched through every stage of building as he traveled his daily work commute. The land is 5 acres of what used to be a very large farm. The original farmhouse was still sitting up near the road just a few years back. The farm house was moved to the middle of the property and used partly in the construction of the new house we now occupy. So my home has areas of modern newness, as well as areas where you can tell the old farmhouse was incorporated in….and I love old houses! The yard also has the touches of people that lived here in the generations before, with flower beds and fruit trees. I just love to get out and walk my yard. Seems there is something blooming year round. It’s good to feel connected to others, even if you don’t personally know them or they walked this earth before your time, and that’s what I love about books too.
FAVORITE BOOKS AND AUTHORS: I love books that reflect times past such as Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights and Jane Austin classic novels, (my favorite of course being Pride and Prejudice). I enjoy colonial history as in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House series. I also like Science fiction/Fantasy along the lines of JRR Tolkien. I enjoy most mystery and suspense novels – who wouldn’t? For true inspiration and life lifters though, I love Christian authors such as Max Lucado. It is a special gift when Jesus is portrayed in such a real and pertinent way that He just walks off the pages of the book and into your everyday life.
